I am huge fan of vintage household appliances. I appreciate beautiful design. Hugin is the name of a Swedish manufacturer that has created great household goods.
This is a Hugin portable hair dryer. An electric mobile hair dryer. What a beauty. And yes, it works like a charm. Amazing.
The hair dryer features a hood, connected to the heating device, that comfortably slips over your hair. With its own easy-to-carry strap and with adjustable heating, this product was a necessity for the modern woman from the 50s and onwards and a huge success. The bouffant hood fits over the largest rollers. Cuts drying time to next-to-nothing and travels light, too. I recall sessions of warm humming while leafing through magazines in the 70’s.
Hugin was founded by Swedish company KF – Kooperativa Förbundet – in 1926. Hugin has, among others, manufactured sewing machines, coffee makers and other household appliances.
I fondly nurture the bonnets, hot combs, curling irons & blow dryers from the days of groovy grooming.
Below is a Hugin hair dryer I’ve kept around. Stunning design. Runs like new.
