What makes me feel confident?
What makes me feel happy?
What lights me up?
What inspires me?
What brings me peace?
These are questions I like to ask myself.
When asking myself these questions I focus on being present in the here and now.
Sit with those questions.
Ponder them one by one. Carefully and thoroughly.
Many of us are not really present in the now. Many of us are used to be escaping to something else. Maybe focusing on work. Or turning our attention to a distraction, like watching television or talking on the phone. Maybe go straight from a busy day at work to turning on the telly. Maybe feeling to drained and exhausted to even think about anything else than getting through the day.
Since we live in a mirror reality, where we get what we think, what we believe and how we feel, reflected back to us, what we perceive as reality is a reflection of our own inner world. As within, so without.
We don’t get what we want. We get what we are.
If you want love, be love.
It you want to be loved, be loving towards yourself. Treat yourself the way you want to be treated by others. The more unconditionally loving you are towards yourself, the more unconditionally loving the world will be.
If you want peace, be peaceful. Be peace. Feel the feeling of peace.
I like to turn my attention to the present moment and ask myself the questions mentioned above. I like to take a moment of stillness and look deeply into my everyday life. Look at what my day to day life really looks like.
Then I explore how I can bring in little tiny adjustments into my everyday life, to help me hold the frequency of what I want. The frequency of feeling confident. The feeling of feeling happy. Feeling lit up. Feeling inspired. Feeling at peace.
I tailor little things every day that help bring in happiness.
That bring in inspiration.
It can be things like bringing in more light or color into your home. Or plants.
Moving somewhere new if that is an option.
Listening to music that uplift you.
Putting beautiful art into your home, so when you wake up, the first thing you see is art.
I look at how I can bring peace and nurture to myself.
One of the things I like to treat myself to is to travel.
Traveling lights me up. I love to explore.
Even during busy times, a spontaneous day trip can be a fun adventure.
The other day I went for a trip to Denmark.
I went by ferry. To me, there is something very revitalizing about traveling by boat. To cruise. To breathe in the fresh ocean air. The salty water. Watch seagulls flying by. Take in all these white and blue colors.
I enjoy the preparing bit just as much as the actual trip.
Before going to Denmark I made a playlist of songs in Danish. Uplifting music sure lights me up. What fun it was to research. Some songs are new to me. Pleasant discoveries indeed. Like Kysse under stjernerne (Kiss under the stars) by Rasmus Nøhr, about a guy trying to figure out how to best approach the girl he likes. What sweet lyrics .
I also found songs that I enjoyed as a teenager and that I now happily reconnected with. Tommy Seebach and Debbie Cameron represented Denmark with the song Krøller eller ej (Curly hair or not) at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981. The song was a huge hit. We teenagers listened to it all the time. I adored this song. I still do. What a happy, sunny song indeed. With such a beautiful message. Tommy Seebach made a string of really popular songs.
Like Disco Tango. The song represented Denmark at the Eurovision Contest in 1979. What a delightful video. Very creative. I sure dig this. For anyone interested there has been a movie made about Tommy Seebach. He passed young.
I will definitely watch the movie.
Another favorite of mine. Rocazino – Elsk mig i nat (Love me tonight) from 1982. And adorable Kim Larsen performing his Unge Smukke Mensker (Young beautiful people) also from the 80s. And equally amazing Gnags, a legendary Danish band, with their sunny 80’s song Den Dejligste Morgen (The most delightful morning). I marvel at all the joy and play that has been put into the video. Danser med Drenge – Hvorlænge vil du ydmyge dig? (How long will you allow yourself to be humiliated?) with their iconic zero-cut video (nul-klip video) where they filmed the whole video in one single take.
Well, I really like all the songs on the list.
Feel free to enjoy the playlist.
