I went to the opera some days ago. Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni was being performed at Malmö Opera. I have looked forward to this.
To me, Mozart feels like a dear old friend. Whenever I connect with him, whenever I tap into his energy, I feel pure hearted joy. My heart fills with the most endearing and warm hearted love.
One can feel love beyond time and space. I so enjoy that.
Mozart spreads joy. People who knew him during his lifetime described how Mozart was always upbeat. People adored his wise and sunny ways. He was kind, considerate and encouraging. Playful and creative. From a higher perspective Mozart was deeply serious and a great thinker. With a higher consciousness. On the forefront of his time.
A high vibrational being in a dense world.
I have written about him here.
Now that one of Mozart’s operas is being performed in my area I have had a delightful time preparing for a day at the opera.
I talk about it here.
To me, part of the fun is looking into stories of when Mozart wrote the piece.
I like to read about an event through different sources. I enjoy collecting multiple perspectives to get an overall fuller view.
Although I know the piece, I look for different recordings of the opera. I have had these tunes in my speakers for the last couple of weeks.
As part of getting ready for an event like this I particularly enjoy the procedure of choosing what clothes to wear. I like dressing up. I like putting in thought and special care. Make myself feel exceptional.
I enjoy the details. The little moments. Like getting my knee high, heeled boots out and polishing them the day before.
I enjoy having plenty of time on my hands. The play starts at 6 pm on a Saturday. I arrive 4.30. The grand foyer of Malmö Opera offers large open surfaces and marble staircases. Since my brother, who used to be one of the world’s leading ballet dancers back in the day, performed here when we were kids, I’m familiar which these spaces.
The opera house was built between 1933-1944 in the style of functionalism. It was highly modern at the time. An international functionalist architecture movement emerged in the early decades of 1900, as part of the wave of Modernism.
This building is considered an architectural gem. Described as magnificent, modern and inviting.
This is one of the largest opera houses in Scandinavia. It is created in the form of an enclosed amphi theatre in order to allow for the greatest viewing possibility and with more than 1,500 seats. A large revolving stage was constructed, influenced by Austrian/German director Max Reinhardt.
It has held its own ballet company from the start in 1944, The Malmö Ballet, (Malmöbaletten). An in-house ballet school was formed to raise the quality of professional dancers in Sweden and in 1961 a ballet school for children and young dancers was attached – Malmö Stadsteaters Balettelevskola. The pupils often performed in the plays.
My brother was a ballet pupil here and I spent a lot of my childhood in this building. Endless times of picking him up. Of seeing him perform. Walking around here now feels like returning home. A solemn feeling. Heart warming. Reuniting with the grand golden statue of Thalia, the Greek muse, the Goddess who presides over comedy and idyllic poetry.
I even go to the backstage staff entrance to have a nostalgic look.
What a joy to experience Mozart in a setting so worthy of him.
Next on my wish list is to watch The Magic Flute (Die Zauberflöte/Trollflöjten) which is being performed at The Royal Danish Opera House (Det Kongelige Teater) in Copenhagen at the moment. Now that would be grand. Here are some of the tunes. The house also offers a guided tour of the building. The theatre was founded in 1748, eight years before Mozart was born. The present building is from 1874. This guided tour would also interest me immensely.
I will send out a wish for these. I will wish upon a star.
When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you
If your heart is in your dream
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star
As dreamers do
Fate is kind
She brings to those who love
The sweet fulfillment of their secret longing
Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true
